Ricky Soundlove

Ricky SoundLove is an Italian DJ, selector and radio host based in Rome, with more than three decades behind the decks.

For Ricky, a DJ set is far more than a sequence of tracks. It is a space where music gives freedom to the imagination: rhythm, emotions and memories intertwine, allowing each listener to experience a personal journey while sharing the same music.

This philosophy has always shaped the way he approaches DJing. Rather than simply putting together a selection of tracks or remaining within rigid genre boundaries, Ricky builds musical journeys through different atmospheres, energies and sounds, always searching for the thread that can connect different musical worlds while keeping groove, movement and human connection at the heart of the experience.

His musical roots go back to the 1980s and are deeply grounded in Afro, Funk and Soul, alongside the emergence of House Music. Over the years, his musical language has continuously evolved through House, Tribal, Tech House and electronic influences, while maintaining the curiosity and openness that have always been central to his identity as a DJ.

From the late 1980s through the 1990s, Ricky was actively involved in Rome's clubbing and electronic music scene, performing at some of the city's most representative venues of the era, including Alien, Piper and Blue Zone. During the same period, he took part in numerous independent events and raves across Rome and Central Italy, bringing a House-oriented musical vision and its different influences to a scene that was often dominated by harder techno sounds.

Among the significant experiences of those years were Red Hot + Dance, as well as performances at Titilla at Cocoricò in Riccione, one of the landmarks of Italian club culture.

Over the years, his journey has taken his music into different environments across Italy and Europe, with experiences in Rome, London and Paris, moving between clubs, private events, independent projects and radio.

In recent years, radio has become an increasingly important and natural space for developing his musical vision: a place where the DJ set can evolve beyond the dancefloor and become a true sonic narrative.

Ricky collaborates with several international radio stations, including Underground Kollektiv Radio UK, Ibiza Play About Radio, Atomix Radio UK and 365FMRadio Germany, through radio shows and mix series that allow him to explore different sides of his musical identity.

Alongside his radio work, he is co-founder and resident DJ of La Terrazza Danzante in Rome, an independent project built around music, people, culture, energy and connection, bringing together DJs, artists and audiences in unconventional spaces.

Now, on Balearic FM, this journey opens a new chapter with Music Escapes – The Ricky SoundLove Radio Show.

Music Escapes is conceived as a sonic exploration where Afro House and Tribal House meet electronic influences, groove and evolving atmospheres. It represents a specific landscape within Ricky's wider musical universe: a space with its own identity, but enough freedom for every episode to explore a different perspective.

Rather than defining a fixed formula, Music Escapes is about discovering the different horizons within that landscape. One episode may move through deeper, organic and tribal territories; another may reveal a stronger electronic pulse. The direction can change, while the musical identity and the idea behind the journey remain connected.

At its heart, Music Escapes reflects the same philosophy that has accompanied Ricky throughout his life as a DJ: music is not simply about getting from one track to the next, or from one point to another. It is about everything that can happen along the way — the images, emotions, memories and unexpected connections that music can awaken differently in each listener.
